Model Transformation

Ever wonder how a model is transformed by photoshop? This video takes a regular woman model and creates a whole new woman. She is basically turned into a real life barbie.

Standard Of Beauty & Photoshop | Model Before and After

It is unbelievable how much her appearance changes after makeup and photoshop! It is almost scary how easily someone can be changed and made to look like someone other than their true self. Every part of her is edited from her head to her toes. If you saw the original picture and then had to guess how many changes were made, you would probably only think of half.  The most common edits that people never notice are the legs, neck and feet. If you notice in the video, the editors go as far as making her neck, legs and even feet longer.

After the make over, this model looked good enough for the photo and didn't need any more edits.

As good as she looked, she still was not good enough. This is the message that the media sends to people.  By looking at her any of us can tell she's beautiful and in good shape physically.  What is the purpose of her body being altered?

You could say one reason is that while she looked good, she was not perfect.  Perfection is something that many photographers want to achieve. Another reason is that sex sells.  In order to sell a product or service, the company would want someone who looks perfect.

I say, why fix something that isn't broken.  No one is actually going to look at the picture of her and think that her legs are too short or that her neck needs to be longer.

It reminds me of when my Aunt uses photoshop to edit her pictures.  Every year she makes a calendar with family photos for each month.  On the pictures of her she edits the smallest things like a few wrinkles near her eyes or forehead.  They are things that aren't even noticeable.

Photoshop gives people the power to change themselves.  We can use that power for other things than changing people into someone they are not.
